25-Laughter truly is the best medicine

Writer: #BecauseofBri#BecauseofBri

Brianne has always been an amazing teacher. Everywhere she taught, her students adored her. Her current kindergarten class was no exception and they dearly missed her. So it wasn't a surprise that her students wrote her various cards and letters throughout the beginning of her journey. Devon, (Brianne's brother) decided to do a little embellishing or deciphering on what the kindergartners may have been meaning by their photos and writings. He had her laughing for quite a while... anything to get her smiling!

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.

— E E Cummings

Laughter is one of the best activities to de-stress, it enlightens your mood and helps you feel better no matter the circumstances. Laughter creates endorphins that promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain... wait... what? Laughter also helps you connect with others, it can 'break the ice' in a tense situation, it can make you feel at ease with new people, and it certainly keeps our minds in a 'brighter' place. And these are just a few things that laughter can do. I believe when we are optimistic, happy, and laugh more often that even on the toughest of days can be lightened. Good news right?

I found this quote in a FORBES article very timely:

"What this all amounts to is that laughter fosters rigorous brain-region connectivity that kicks in when we hear a laugh, as our brains work to decipher what sort of communication is coming through."

That is incredible to hear how it fosters brain-region connectivity, we will do anything it takes to reconnect the brain!

Dale kept trying to make Brianne laugh...

Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.

— Victor Hugo

You can truly see that in her face, the melting of sad and hard, even for just a few minutes. That makes it worth every second!

The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer someone else up.

— Mark Twain

Having *Alex be here for that visit finally helped propel her recovery upwards! After that and with a couple visits a week, Brianne started doing things she hadn't been able to for so long. He gave her the hope, we knew he would.
